Grants are never made for the following purposes:

  • Donations to General Appeals of any kind
  • The purchase, erection or conversion of buildings
  • Capital costs
  • University overhead charges
  • The completion of a project initiated by other bodies

Grants are
not usually made for the following:

  • Projects put forward indirectly through other 'umbrella' or large charities
  • Personal education fees or fees for taught courses - unless connected with research which falls within our current priority areas . Applications for such research work are normally made by a Senior researcher seeking support for a student or, if coming directly from the student it should have Project Supervisors  written support.
