SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL

Applications are welcomed for research, feasibility, pilot studies or development projects that are likely to improve the conditions of a particular group of people, as well as having wider implications. Trustees will normally expect that the beneficiaries of a development project will have been involved in the design of the project and its continuing governance, They will also wish to see how the work will continue after a grant from the Trust has finished (I.e. sustainability plans)

In the UK
the Trustees wish to support innovative projects, which attempt to :-

  • prevent and resolve conflict, promote reconciliation and/or encourage re-connection between family members of all ages
  • help people 'move beyond disadvantage'. Such projects might be concerned with the social and family aspects of unemployment, crime, imprisonment, homelessness and migration
  • address the needs of  elderly people and those of all ages who may be vulnerable or exploited
  • accept responsibility for disseminating results to practitioners in a form which is likely to result in changes in their way of working

And Overseas : The Trust applies the same criteria as above to proposals from UK-based charities which operate through local organisations in the poorest politically stable African countries. {NB  For the foreseeable future the Trust will fund overseas work in the field of education, water and healthcare through those organisations with which they have had previous partnerships or which Trustees themselves identify. Please do not make general submissions.}
